RepRap will make plastic, ceramic, or metal parts, and is itself made from plastic parts, so it will be able to make copies of itself. Basically it is a 3D printer. Think of it like a hot glue gun. You lay a line with the glue gun let it dry and then lay another line on top building until you have an object. Instead of glue it uses a hard drying plastic, making small parts up to one foot square.
